Optimize Your Getty Images
Submissions
View, edit, and remove EXIF data from your Getty Images submissions. Add IPTC keywords and captions to maximize licensing and discoverability.
Getty Images has the strictest metadata standards in stock photography
Getty Images is the world's premier stock photography platform — and it demands the highest metadata quality. Every image submitted to Getty must include accurate IPTC fields: title, description, keywords, creator, copyright, and (for editorial content) location, date, and event information. Submissions with incomplete or inaccurate metadata are rejected. Meeting Getty's standards is not optional — it is the price of admission.
GPS Location
Exact coordinates where photo was taken
Date & Time
When the image was captured
Camera Info
Device make, model, and settings

What metadata does Getty Images require?
Getty Images reads your IPTC metadata during the submission review process. Missing or inaccurate fields result in rejection. Here is what a compliant submission includes.
IPTC fields required for every Getty Images submission
Getty Images enforces strict IPTC metadata requirements. These fields must be accurately filled before submission. Exif Injector helps you write and embed them correctly.
Step-by-step: embed metadata in Getty Images photos with Exif Injector
Edit and export at Getty standards
Process your images in Lightroom or Capture One. Export as JPEG or TIFF at maximum quality. Getty requires minimum 17MP for creative and minimum 12MP for editorial. Color space: sRGB or Adobe RGB.
Open Exif Injector
Go to Exif Injector and switch to Inject mode. Upload your images. For editorial batches from a single event, use batch mode to apply consistent location and event metadata.
Fill in all required IPTC fields
Complete Title, Caption, Keywords, Creator, Copyright, and Location. For editorial: include the event name, date, and all relevant factual details in the caption. Getty reviews captions for accuracy.
Verify camera EXIF data
Getty values original photography with intact camera metadata. Verify that camera make, model, lens, and settings are present. Do not strip technical EXIF data from Getty submissions.
Download and submit via Getty portal
Download the metadata-enriched images and submit through the Getty Contributor portal or ESP platform. Your IPTC data auto-populates the submission fields, ensuring consistency and saving time.
Keyword strategy for Getty Images metadata
Getty Images serves commercial buyers, news agencies, and editorial teams. Keywords must be accurate, professional, and buyer-oriented:
Subject & content
Who and what is in the image. Be factual.
Event & context
The event or situation. Critical for editorial.
Concepts
Abstract themes the image communicates to buyers.
Visual description
Composition and visual characteristics.
Industry & usage
How commercial buyers will use the image.
Demographics (if applicable)
Accurate demographic descriptors for people.
