To remove AI metadata from a Suno song, upload the MP3 or WAV to Exif Injector's C2PA Audio Remover and download the “_clean” copy. What Suno puts in your files

An audio file holds two things: the sound itself, and metadata stored next to it (title, artist, software, provenance). Depending on the format you download, Suno doesn't write the same thing. Here's what we found by inspecting real exports, chunk by chunk.

When a platform shows “AI-generated”, the signal can come from two very different places. Understanding the difference will save you surprises.

ID3 tags, XMP, C2PA / Content Credentials manifests, software comments. It's text stored next to the sound, so it can be removed cleanly without touching the audio. This is what Exif Injector does.

Platform rules and disclosure

Removing metadata doesn't change your obligations. Most major platforms ask you to disclose AI-made content and combine metadata, self-disclosure and detection. Rules change fast — here's the gist, to check against their current terms.

Does Suno add AI metadata to my songs?

Exported MP3s can carry ID3 tags (title, artist, comments) and, depending on the version, provenance markers. In our September 2026 test, a WAV downloaded from Suno contained no tags at all. What Suno writes can change over time, so check your own files with a metadata reader.

Does removing the metadata reduce audio quality?

No. Metadata lives next to the audio stream. Exif Injector removes it without re-encoding, so the audio samples stay bit-for-bit identical.

Can my song still be recognised as AI after cleaning?

Yes, it's possible. Removing metadata removes the label written in the file, not the characteristics of the sound. Some platforms use inaudible audio watermarks or AI detectors that analyse the signal itself. No metadata tool can remove those, and we don't claim otherwise.

Why is my Suno WAV flagged when it has no metadata?

If the file carries no tags, the detection isn't coming from metadata but from the audio itself (a watermark or an AI classifier). Cleaning metadata won't change that.

Is it legal to remove metadata from my Suno songs?

Editing the metadata of your own files is generally allowed.
