What is C2PA audio and Content Credentials?
C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) is the same open standard used for images and video, applied to audio: it attaches a provenance certificate to the sound file. Content Credentials (Adobe) is the visible implementation. For an audio file, the manifest can state "AI-generated", the model used (synthetic voice, AI music), and a signed edit history.
Concretely, a file exported from a voice-AI generator (ElevenLabs, Suno, Udio) or an editor can carry a C2PA manifest in its metadata (ID3 for MP3, XMP for WAV/FLAC), signaling AI involvement. That manifest travels with the file until it is erased.

C2PA vs ID3 and classic audio metadata
C2PA is distinct from usual metadata. ID3 (MP3) or Vorbis/FLAC tags carry title, artist and artwork; C2PA adds a cryptographic chain of provenance (who, which tool, AI or not). Our tool performs a full wipe (-all=), removing ID3, Vorbis, XMP and the C2PA manifest in one pass.

Why remove Content Credentials from an audio file?
Several cases justify erasing it: publishing a "neutral" audio without a provenance label, avoiding a stale or incorrect certificate following the file, or slimming the container. Our tool strips the C2PA manifest without re-encoding the stream (the sound stays identical).

C2PA support for audio is newer than for images and remains uneven across formats (MP3 via ID3, WAV/FLAC via XMP). Our tool removes known container metadata (ID3/Vorbis/XMP/Provenance) without re-encoding. For full concealment, re-encode the file afterwards.
How this tool works (lossless)

Quality, duration and codec stay identical — only metadata disappears.
Why this matters in 2026
Since 2 August 2026, EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) Article 50 makes machine-readable provenance marking of synthetic content (images, video, audio) enforceable across the EU, with fines up to €15 million or 3% of worldwide turnover. If your audio carries a C2PA manifest you no longer want attached — a stale certificate, an unwanted "AI" label, or a proof you'd rather keep private — strip it here in one step.
