How to View Detailed Camera Information in a Photo
Learn how to view detailed camera information in a photo using EXIF metadata. Discover the best tools and methods in 2026. Try Exif Injector free.
Exif Injector helps your images rank on stock platforms, Etsy, Shopify, eBay, Amazon, Google Images, and social feeds by optimizing your embedded metadata— IPTC keywords, XMP titles, EXIF fields. Most images have none. Exif Injector uses AI to write that metadata in bulk, so your images get found instead of buried.
metadata for Facebook, Bluesky, and major ecommerce platforms
Quick start
From upload to fully optimized metadata. Watch how AI writes IPTC keywords, XMP titles, and descriptions directly into your image files — ready to rank on Google, Etsy, Amazon, and Shutterstock.
The metadata gap
Platforms don't read your image — they read the data inside it. Without metadata, your image doesn't exist to their algorithm.

EXIF explained
EXIF data (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata automatically written into every photo by your camera or smartphone at the moment of capture. It travels invisibly inside the image file — even when you share, upload, or post the photo.
EXIF information includes GPS coordinates precise enough to pinpoint your home address, your camera or phone model, lens serial number, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and the exact date and time the photo was taken. Smartphones often embed the device serial number and software version too.
Most people never see this data — but it is readable by anyone who downloads the file using a free online EXIF viewer. Most platforms (Reddit, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, X/Twitter) do not strip it automatically.

EXIF vs IPTC vs XMP — the three metadata standards
| Standard | Full name | Written by | What it stores | Who reads it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EXIF | Exchangeable Image File Format | Camera / phone automatically | GPS, camera model, settings, timestamps | Privacy tools, forensic tools, any EXIF viewer |
| IPTC | Int'l Press Telecommunications Council | Editor / metadata tool | Keywords, title, caption, copyright, creator | Shutterstock, Getty, Adobe Stock, news agencies |
| XMP | Extensible Metadata Platform (Adobe) | Adobe apps / metadata tools | Title, description, subject, rights, rating |

Three tools, one account
Not a basic EXIF reader. A complete metadata workflow — inject, audit, and clean — with AI handling the heavy lifting.

Give the AI your shoot context — topic, brand voice, target keywords, language — and it generates titles, captions, and up to 50 IPTC keywords per image. Every field gets written into EXIF, IPTC, and XMP inside the file before you download.

Viewer
Upload any image to instantly surface GPS coordinates, camera model, IPTC keywords, XMP rights, timestamps, copyright fields, and more — organised by standard with clear labels. The sanity-check step before any platform submission.

Remover / Cleaner
Every smartphone photo carries GPS coordinates that reveal where you live or work. Before posting on Reddit, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or any public forum — strip the fields you don't want exposed. Clean files download in seconds, no traces left.

Audio Metadata Editor
Upload any MP3, FLAC, WAV, OGG, or M4A file and fill in title, artist, album, genre, year, cover art, and more. Download the tagged file instantly — no account required on the free tier.

Video Metadata Editor
Tag your video files with the metadata streaming platforms, stock agencies, and broadcast distributors expect. Fill in title, description, director, copyright, year, and genre — then download the updated file.

Audio & Video
MetaImage now goes beyond images. Edit ID3 tags, Vorbis comments, and MP4/QuickTime atoms — directly in your browser, with no upload limits on supported plans.
What is audio/video metadata? Metadata embedded in audio and video files contains descriptive information like title, artist, album, genre, copyright notice, and more. Streaming platforms, music libraries, and video hosts all rely on this data for correct attribution, search ranking, and display.
For audio files, the dominant standards are ID3 (MP3), Vorbis comments (FLAC, OGG), and iTunes/M4A atoms. For video, MP4 containers use a similar atom-based system while MKV relies on Matroska tags — all editable from the same interface.
Embedding accurate metadata before uploading to Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, or any CMS ensures your content is correctly catalogued and protects your rights automatically.

Search engines and streaming platforms parse embedded tags to build their indexes. A podcast episode with a proper title and description tag is more likely to surface in search results than one relying solely on filename or upload form fields — which can get stripped or overwritten.
For musicians, producers, and sound designers submitting to sync libraries, correct ISRC codes, composer credits, and rights information embedded directly in the file are often a hard submission requirement.
Video creators on YouTube, Vimeo, or stock platforms benefit from pre-embedded keywords and copyright data that survive re-compression and platform processing — even when the host's own metadata fields are cleared.
Who uses Exif Injector

Shutterstock, Getty, and Adobe Stock rank by keyword relevance inside their own index. Images without structured IPTC keywords are buried — no matter how good the shot. Inject 30–50 accurate keywords per image in a single batch run.

Platform recommendation engines use embedded metadata for content categorisation. Properly tagged images get surfaced in explore feeds and image search. Most creators don't know this lever exists.

Google Image Search reads EXIF title, XMP description, and alt-adjacent fields. Match your image metadata to your page keywords and editorial topics — not just the filename you uploaded.

Manage hundreds of product or client images with consistent metadata: brand keywords, rights, language, and taxonomy — all written in bulk so every asset follows the same strategy.
